Recycle & Restore
At One Origin, we believe in reclaiming metals from numerous post-consumer sources. Metal mining for precious metals, primarily gold and platinum, is one of the most environmentally hazardous practices to date; it currently takes 20 tons of ore to produce enough gold for a single ring. Presently, there is enough gold mined to satisfy the demand for the jewelry industry for the next 50 years! By using recycled materials, we are not compromising the elegance of the design nor the quality of the end product. Because precious metals can be recycled repeatedly with no degradation in quality, it is a naturally renewable resource.
We at One Origin also encourage our customers to recycle their own jewelry. We gladly accept and recycle any gold or platinum jewelry, and we will offer credit to any One Origin purchase of equal or lesser value based on the current metal price. We also accept precious stones towards custom designs.
Conflict Free Diamonds
We here at One Origin Jewelry understand that the current international regulations on conflict free diamonds falls drastically short. What is widely known as the Kimberly Process, defined by the UN in 2000, classifies conflict diamonds as “diamonds that originate from areas controlled by forces or fractions opposed to legitimate and internationally recognized governments, and are used to fund military action in opposition to those governments or in contravention of the decisions of the UN Security Council”. This definition strictly addresses diamonds used to fund wars against recognized governments; however, this does not deal with issues of human rights violations, which include such areas as child-labor and worker exploitation, ignoring the human abuses that occur in cutting and polishing centers.
Canadian Diamonds, Lab Created, and Synthetic
One Origin proudly provides our customers with the very best in Canadian diamonds. Diamonds are mined according to Canada’s strict environmental laws, which are amongst the most rigorous in the world. These high standards protect their distinctive water and wildlife sources. We work closely with Canadian mines that integrate sustainable practices, protecting the natural water sources, wildlife and the indigenous tribes. Our Canadian diamonds are guaranteed to originate from ethical and environmentally responsible sources. And since each Canadian diamond is tracked from its source to the customer, you can be confident in your purchase.
Another alternative to reducing your carbon footprint is lab-created colored diamonds and colored stones. These stones are 100% real and are naturally grown, or cultured, in a laboratory. One Origin acquires our lab created gems from Chatham Gems located in San Francisco, CA.
